Developmental Assessment
One of the key ways we do this is through Developmental Assessments,
At Sadbhaav Child Development Foundation, our focus is on supporting children in their overall growth and learning. which help parents understand how their child is progressing in different areas of development. These assessments are especially helpful when there are concerns about a child’s speech, movement, behavior, learning, or social interaction. Early identification of delays or difficulties allows us to support the child better and plan the right kind of interventions.
What is Developmental Assessment?
A developmental assessment is a structured way to observe and measure a child’s abilities in key developmental areas such as:
- Motor Skills (gross and fine)
- Language and Communication
- Cognitive Skills
Social and Emotional Behavior - Self-help and Daily Living Skills
Every child grows at their own pace, but sometimes delays in development may go unnoticed. This assessment helps identify whether the child is reaching expected milestones for their age.
Who is it for?
Developmental assessments are suitable for children from birth to around 7 years of age, especially if:
- The child is not speaking or communicating as expected
- There are difficulties in walking, sitting, or holding objects
- The child is overly withdrawn or has trouble interacting socially
- There are behavioral concerns such as excessive tantrums or lack of attention
- A doctor or teacher has suggested getting the child evaluated
It’s important to note that a developmental assessment is not a diagnosis, but it can indicate whether further support or specialist referrals are needed.
How We Do It
Our team of trained professionals including psychologists, special educators, and therapists carries out the assessment through:
- Parent interviews to understand the child’s history and routine
- Observation-based tasks and activities
- Standardized tools appropriate for the child’s age
- Play-based interaction to ensure the child feels comfortable
The entire process is done in a child-friendly and non-stressful environment. The goal is to understand the child’s current abilities, not to label or compare them.
After the Assessment
Once the assessment is complete, we prepare a detailed report explaining the child’s developmental status. If any delays are found, we sit with the family to discuss the next steps. This may include:
- Recommending therapies such as speech or occupational therapy
- Suggesting early intervention programs
- Guiding parents with strategies to support the child at home
We also help families connect with any additional services they may need.
