Prevocational and Vocational Skills Training
At Sadbhaav Child Development Foundation, we help prepare young individuals with developmental, intellectual
learning challenges for greater independence through Prevocational and Vocational Skills Training. This involves building basic work habits, life skills, and hands-on abilities that can eventually lead to employment or meaningful engagement in society.
Not every child will follow a traditional academic or career path. Some may need extra time, support, and structure to become work-ready. Our focus is to help each individual realise their potential and feel confident in contributing in their own way whether it’s through a job, home-based work, or supported tasks.
What Are Prevocational and Vocational Skills?
Prevocational skills are the foundation for any kind of work or training. These include:
- Following instructions
- Time management
- Personal hygiene and grooming
- Social behaviour in a workplace
- Basic money handling
- Use of tools or materials
- Communication and teamwork
Vocational skills are more task-specific and prepare the person for a certain kind of job or activity, such as:
- Sorting and packaging
- Simple office tasks (filing, stamping, etc.)
- Housekeeping or kitchen work
- Handicrafts, art-based work, or computer tasks
- Retail assistance or front-desk support
The aim is not just employment it’s to build purpose, confidence, and a sense of independence.
Who Is This For?
This program is suitable for adolescents and young adults (typically ages 14 and above) who:
- Have developmental disabilities such as Autism, Intellectual Disability, Down Syndrome
- Face learning difficulties that affect academic progress
- Are not planning to pursue higher education but want structured skill development
- Need support in daily life and routine management

Our Approach
At Sadbhaav Child Development Foundation, we begin with a detailed assessment of the individual’s:
- Current skill level and interests
- Communication and social abilities
- Physical and cognitive strengths
- Behavioural readiness for structured tasks
Based on this, we design a personalised training plan that includes:
- One-on-one and group sessions
- Task-based training in a simulated or real-life setting
- Use of visual aids, checklists, and structured routines
- Repetition and hands-on practice
- Positive reinforcement and motivation
We also include life skills training such as using public transport, handling money, and basic safety — all of which are essential for day-to-day functioning.
Family and Future Support
We work closely with families to:
- Share progress and practical tips for home
- Help set realistic goals based on the individual’s abilities
- Suggest next steps like supported employment, sheltered workshops, or home-based tasks
At Sadbhaav Child Development Foundation, our aim is not just to teach skills but to help each person feel valued, independent, and included — wherever they are in life.
