Family Counselling

At Sadbhaav Child Development Foundation, we understand that when a child is facing developmental, emotional, or behavioural challenges

it often affects the entire family. That’s why we offer Family Counselling — a space where parents, caregivers, and sometimes siblings can come together to understand each other better, improve communication, and find healthier ways to deal with stress, conflict, or confusion. Raising a child with special needs or emotional difficulties can be overwhelming. Our goal is to support families through that journey, not with advice or judgment, but with practical tools and a listening ear.

Why Family Counselling?

Every family faces challenges — but when they start affecting relationships, daily routines, or mental well-being, outside support can help. Family counselling may be useful when:

  • There is constant stress or tension at home
  • Parents are struggling to cope with a child’s diagnosis or behaviour
  • Siblings feel ignored, confused, or angry
  • Family members disagree on how to manage a child’s needs
  • The child’s behaviour is causing conflict between parents or caregivers
  • There are feelings of guilt, frustration, helplessness, or burnout
  • Communication has broken down or is mostly negative

Counselling provides a space where these concerns can be discussed calmly and openly, with a trained professional guiding the process.

What Happens in Counselling?

At Sadbhaav Child Development Foundation, our counsellors are trained to work with families in a sensitive, respectful way. Sessions may involve:

  • One-on-one conversations with parents or caregivers
  • Joint sessions with both parents (or extended family if involved)
  • Sometimes including the child or siblings, depending on the situation
  • Understanding each person’s perspective and emotional experience
  • Identifying stress points, misunderstandings, or unhealthy patterns
  • Helping families develop better ways of listening, talking, and resolving conflict
  • Providing emotional support and practical suggestions

The aim is not to “blame” anyone but to build a stronger, more supportive home environment where the child and the family can grow together.

Common Areas We Address

  • Accepting and adjusting to a child’s diagnosis or special needs
  • Managing emotional reactions like fear, anger, guilt, or denial
  • Balancing attention between siblings
  • Handling school-related stress and decision-making
  • Supporting the child’s therapy journey at home
  • Strengthening parenting strategies for difficult behaviour
  • Improving overall family communication and routines

You’re Not Alone

Many parents feel they should “handle everything” on their own, but that’s neither realistic nor healthy. Family counselling offers a space to pause, reflect, and find clarity — without pressure. It’s not about being perfect, but about being present and working together.

At Sadbhaav Child Development Foundation, we believe that a supported family is the strongest support system a child can have. Our role is to walk with you, listen without judgment, and help you rebuild balance, connection, and hope — one conversation at a time.
